Custom Error Pages
Take a plunge into website error pages. Find out when they appear and why you need to set up your individual custom error pages.
If a particular page on a website doesn't load for some reason or in case a link is not functioning, the visitor will see an error page with a generic message. The page shall have nothing in common with the rest of the website, that may make the visitor leave your Internet site. A solution in cases like this is a function offered by some hosting companies - the option to set your own customized error pages which will have identical design and style as your site and which may contain any images or text that you'd like depending on the specific error. There are four well-known errors that can occur and they involve the following so-called HTTP status codes - 400, when your web browser sends a bad request to the hosting server and it cannot be processed; 401, if you're supposed to log in to see a page, but you haven't done so yet; 403, if you don't have a permission to view a specific page; and 404, when a link that you've clicked leads to a file that doesn't exist. In each of these cases, site visitors will be able to see your customized content instead of a generic error page.

Custom Error Pages in Cloud Web Hosting
The customized error pages function is offered with every single
cloud web hosting package that we offer and you will be able to replace all generic pages with your own with no more than several clicks inside your Hepsia hosting CP. You'll need to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a specific domain or subdomain from the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You could do this for each and every website hosted in the account separately, so that every group of customized pages shall have the same design as the website it is part of. If necessary, you may always return back to a default page from our system or to a default Apache server page. Another way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to add a few lines in it. If you have not done this before, you may simply copy the needed program code from our Help article about this.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting
Adding your pages for each of the four error types to any Internet site hosted from a
semi-dedicated server account with us will be really easy and will not take more than several mouse clicks. As soon as you upload the files to your account, you could go to the Hosted Domains section of your Hepsia CP and edit any of the domains and subdomains listed there using an intuitive interface with drop-down navigation. You can pick what page should display for every error type. Your choices are a default Apache server page or a page from our system, and personalized pages. Should you pick the abovementioned option, you have to input the link to each page in your account, then save the change. The link or the kind of page which will be displayed in case a user encounters an error can be changed whenever you want. If you're more experienced, you may use an .htaccess file in order to set personalized error pages as well, rather than using our integrated generator software tool, and in case you choose this option, the file should be positioned in the root directory of a given domain or subdomain.
